For over 15 years, university students and staff have faced the consequences of a broken funding system. Tuition fees have transformed higher education into a quasi-market, turning students into indebted consumers and staff into precarious workers. While Lord Mandelson's support for British universities is appreciated, his apparent acceptance of students and staff bearing the financial burden is concerning.
