The British Museum has received a historic donation of Chinese ceramics valued at approximately £1 billion, marking the largest object donation in the history of UK museums. The collection, comprising 1,700 pieces spanning from the 3rd to the 20th century, was gifted by the trustees of the Sir Percival David Foundation. The collection, amassed by Sir Percival David in the early 1900s, includes prized vases and wine cups. An expert noted that such a collection could not be assembled today, highlighting its exceptional value. The ceramics had been on loan to the London museum since 2009, and now become a permanent addition to its collection.
